“If this Revolution falls, what we will have here in Cuba is a hell. Hell itself.” The Revolution did not fall. Castro won. But there are many Cubans in America and abroad who would agree that even after Castro won, Cuba still became Hell itself.
The lost interview, was animated by PBS in there series Blank on Blank and gives a view of the Cuban leader in 1959. It provides a window into the mind of a man who sounds very different politically than just a few years later.
Castro comments on how he does not view himself as a communist and that the naval base in Guantanamo Bay is a mutual benefit to both America and Cuba. Attitudes that had a polar shift just a few years later.
