Looking at a different way to fight terrorism (AUDIO)

With the upcoming Summit on Countering Violent Extremism at the White House, Freakonomics decided to do a podcast and talk with several folks on the issue of both domestic and international efforts to stop violent extremism, formerly known as “terrorism.”

The podcast includes a discussion with Col. (Ret.) Jack Jacobs, a Vietnam War veteran and national-security analyst for NBC and MSNBC, who expects “very little of a positive nature” from the summit and believes the gathering to be more of a media event than anything- although he admittedly hopes he’s wrong.

Others in the podcast lineup include Robert Pape, a professor of political science at the University of Chicago and a well-known author on the “strategic logic” of suicide terrorism, and Mia Bloom, a political science professor at the University of Massachusetts.
