Manasquan, NJ –-(Ammoland.com)- Everyone here at AmmoLand Shooting Sports News is looking forward to a Happy Thanksgiving with friends and family.
As we wish all of our friends and supporters a successful T-Day, we would also like to take the opportunity to encourage everyone eating turkey tomorrow, to be honest about their meal and what it takes to put meat on the table.
Hunters already know what I am talking about, as they are directly hands on when it comes to their meals and the process of killing and cleaning their dinner. In today’s world it is to easy to roll into your super food store and load up on a nice clean, shrink wrapped, turkey. And be happy to pay someone else to take the responsibility for putting that meat on your table and in the mouths of your children.
This is especially true for all those anti-hunting moms that demand action to stop hunting and trapping. I bet those same “moms” are right now defrosting a big hunk of meat in their kitchen while they Tweet how awful us hunters are. Can you say hypocrites?
Well I have a great video from the National Turkey Federation ( https://www.eatturkey.com/ ), not to be confused with the “National Wild Turkey Federation” another fine organization. The purpose of the National Turkey Federation is “To conduct activities aimed at strengthening the turkey farmers’ ability to responsibly provide wholesome products, and to raise awareness about the many health benefits associated with eating turkey.”
The NTF has a video out called Turkey Farm & Processing Plant Tour: ( https://youtu.be/852zxDEAR-Q ) directed and narrated by Temple Grandin, PhD, professor of animal science at Colorado State University. The video take you through every step of getting your turkey dinner from the farm, to the factory, killing your bird, and finally to your table.
All our anti-hunting, anti-trapping friends need to watch this video and see that they are just as responsible for killing what they plan to eat as are the hunters and trapper they so vilify.
When you sit down at the table tomorrow be sure to give thanks for the bird you killed or had paid to kill, and praise the hunters and trappers that keep our traditions alive and are honest with the work to get their next organic feast.
