Germany’s Leica Sport Optics announced new hunting riflescope, the Visus I LW. The design offers some high-tech features on a traditional-looking platform. The announcement was made at IWA, Europe’s premier outdoor and tactical trade show.

The Visus I LW comes in two models: a 2.5 to 10x42mm and 3 to 12x50mm, both with a 4:1 magnification ratio. There’s also a daylight illuminated reticle, an extended four inches of eye relief, and Leica’s 4A reticle.

The red dot daylight illumination has nine brightness settings that adjust with a wheel. The lenses have built-in color correction and stray light reduction for sharper views.

A concentrated focus point is enhanced by Leica’s 4A reticle. The zoom is a modest 4x, making the Visus I LW perfect for general hunting applications at moderate distances.

Durability for hunting was a priority in construction of the scope. It’s waterproof, fog-proof, and the case is impact resistant.

Two finishes are available to appeal to different tastes. A high-gloss version looks perfect on classic rifles, with stylus-engraved white lettering. A matte finish is offered not only to to avoid reflective shine afield, it’s also made for rough duty with anodized steel components in places where the glossy scope has rubber or plastic.

Leica tries to make life a little easier by offering ballistics calculators for this scope in English, German and Italian. However, this PC-using writer as well as some of Leica’s social media followers had challenges using the tool.

It’s unclear right now when these new scopes will be available. Nor has Leica released a price.
