Mt. Carroll, IL – -(Ammoland.com)- The legendary Blackwater North training facility near Mount Carroll, Illinois will reopened as The Site beginning spring, 2014.

The Site is a 129-acre shooting and training facility that was developed to be one of the finest shooting facilities in the United States.  The facility currently has seven flat ranges, a 600 yard Known Distance (KD) Range, an Unknown Distance Range, a Climbing/Rappelling/Shooting Tower, two shoot houses (one fully ballistic) and many other training areas.

The new President/Director of Training is former Navy SEAL Master Chief, Jim Kauber. After serving 20 years in the SEAL Teams, Jim continued to serve in a variety of post 9-11 overseas operational and training assignments for the US Government as well as returning to the Naval Special Warfare Command, Coronado, CA to oversee all SEAL and Special Warfare Combatant – Crewman, SWCC, high-risk training safety.

While stateside, Jim was also the lead Law Enforcement Sniper and Precision Rifle Instructor at the current location when it was under a variety of management. “Whether you are a potential first time firearm user with the intent of protecting your home and family, recreational shooter or seasoned professional, it’s our goal to make The Site more than a firearms training venue but rather your firearms training destination where lessons learned on Site are enduring.

No other training facility in the Midwest provides the diversity in training ranges, depth of instruction or deluxe, conveniently located lodging in a single location.”

Jim will also oversee the adjoining Blackbear Lodge North which will cater to the needs of those attending training at The Site.
