Texas-(Ammoland.com)- Gun violence increasingly is becoming a daily concern for U.S. citizens.

In the wake of recent tragedies and needless deaths across the country, the Self Defense Fund (SDF), sponsored by membership in the National Association for Legal Gun Defense, is hosting “Shoot No Shoot” training with Sergeant Damon Ing of the Saginaw Police Department on July 12 and August 9, 2016. Citizens can engage in a two-hour course to learn about self-defense and threat assessment reaction with a firearm and other devices.

“We live in trying times, as the tragedies of mass shootings in Orlando and other cities across the nation remind us,” says Larry Keilberg, National Director of the Self Defense Fund. “Our goal at the National Association for Legal Gun Defense is to give citizens the tools they need to make informed decisions about assuring their own safety as well as the safety of their loved ones. This training is designed to maximize your ability to completely avoid an attack.”

The training, the same that is administered to police officers, will help students recognize different types of confrontations, develop appropriate threat responses and understand the time constraints of violent encounters. The session will consist of one hour of instruction, break, and one hour of shoot no shoot scenarios. Each scenario is followed by detailed, step-by-step tactical analysis showing the telltale signs in each situation and the appropriate force-based response. Other topic areas will include the legal considerations and consequences for use of deadly force.

Sgt. Ing, the instructor for the lesson, is an officer with the Saginaw Police Department, where he is involved in the direct protection of the general public. An expert in the use of firearms for personal safety, he currently serves as a firearms advisor for both the History Channel and Country Music Television (CMT). He shares his expertise on the CMT show Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders: Making the Cut. Sergeant Ing has also appeared on numerous local television stations as an expert in the Texas License to Carry Course.

“When your life and safety is at risk, it is imperative that you learn from professionals in the business,” continues Keilberg. “Sergeant Ing’s involvement assumes a level of expertise and professionalism that makes sure participants will have the tools they need to avoid and survive potential threats of violence.”

SDF covers up to $1 million per case, which includes appeals, something that other groups do not provide.
