Kryptek Produces Unique Brand Song, “Overcome” – Giving Away Free Downloads at SHOT

First 100 Attendees to Stop by Kryptek’s Booth at SHOT Show #3648 at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 20 Will Receive a Free Download of “Overcome”

EAGLE, Idaho (January 19, 2016) – Not every company has their own theme song produced in Nashville by multi-platinum producers, but not every company has a CEO whose aircraft was downed in the middle of a firefight in South Bagdad, Iraq – and survived to start a new company. Kryptek’s CEO, Butch Whiting and President Josh Cleghorn were Apache attack helicopter pilots who flew numerous combat missions while fighting overseas. The day Whiting’s aircraft went down, Cleghorn provided over watch, ensuring Whiting’s evasion, escape and ultimately, his survival. After battle, they created Kryptek, an apparel company that features ultra high-performance technical and tactical outdoor adventure lines. Kryptek’s brand song, “Overcome,” which is now available on iTunes, speaks of overcoming all the odds to survive, to be successful, to be alive – which is exactly what Whiting and Cleghorn did – for themselves and for their company.

Kryptek Album Michael ConnorsOvercome” was created by songwriter and musician Michael Connors, songwriter and TV producer, Jim Kinsey and produced by Connors along with multi-platinum producer Mike Hartnett, who has also produced other songs with Kinsey and Connors such as “Gladiator.”

The first 100 attendees to stop by Kryptek’s booth (#3648) at the Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade Show (SHOT) at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 20 will receive a free download of “Overcome.” Plus, Kryptek’s pro-staffers, Jim Kinsey and Jana Waller of Skull Bound TV and others will be in attendance.

“’Overcome’ is a song that tells the Kryptek backstory bringing its ‘Battlefield to Backcountry’ motto to life in the lyrics,” said Butch Whiting, CEO of Kryptek Outdoor Group. “It captures the battlefield themes with words like ‘survival,’ ‘revival,’ ‘overcome’ and ‘life beyond the tombstone.’  This is a true story of a couple guys spending the majority of their adulthood down range, fighting our nations battles and then returning home with a business concept they developed into a legitimate brand. We chased our passions while transitioning out of decades of combat experience and back into civilian life. I hope others connect with our story as it is about survival, brotherhood and our what our country means to each of us.”

After Whiting’s helicopter went down in battle and he accepted he could die or be captured at the hands of the enemy, but the reaction of nearby ground forces, coupled with Cleghorn’s actions, ensured Whiting would live. “Overcome” features actual radio transmissions of Whiting in the helicopter during combat in the opening of the song.

“Overcome’s” existence starts with songwriter and outdoor TV producer, Jim Kinsey who is also a Kryptek pro-staffer. “Riding on the success of two songs I’d written lyrics on called ‘Open the Cage’ and ‘Gladiator’ last fall, I reached out to Kryptek’s founders Butch Whiting and Josh Cleghorn about writing an original song that encompassed everything Kryptek stood for,” said Kinsey. “I contacted singer/songwriter Michael Connors and we chiseled away at the lyrics along with Whiting, who also sent us actual radio transmissions of both he and Cleghorn in battle. We worked close with multi-platinum producer Mike Hartnett to build the atmosphere and combine those bites with an iconic sound that speaks the Kryptek language. The song ends with their call sign coming over the radio ‘Saber 3…Renegades.’  Authentic music is what every artist strives to produce and I feel as a team we accomplished that with ‘Overcome.’”
