Intruder tells homeowner ‘I’m just trying to feed my kids’ moments before violent confrontation (VIDEO)

An intruder caught breaking into an Indianapolis home last month pleaded for sympathy from the homeowner before the conversation turned violent.

The homeowner, who only wanted to be identified as Ellen, said she was home with her 8- and 10-year-old daughters when she heard a knock at the door. She ignored the knock, but soon it turned to a loud bang, and Ellen realized a man had pushed in a window AC unit and crawled into the house. The mother of two said she believed the man thought the home was empty and they were both shocked to see each other.

“He had his hands in his pockets and he said, ‘I’m just trying to feed my kids. I don’t want to hurt you.’ And I said, ‘I’m a mother of two and I don’t want you to hurt us either,’” Ellen recalled.

But when Ellen grabbed a BB gun, the heart-warming talk turned violent.

“He took me and threw me to the floor and across the carpet,” Ellen said.

The intruder ran out the back door. Ellen was left with a few scrapes and bumps, but her children were unharmed. It’s unclear if the story about the man’s kids was just that – a story – or the truth. Nonetheless, Ellen said the encounter left her feeling sorry for him.

“I hope he knows if he keeps going about his wicked ways, it won’t last long,” she concluded.
