Instagram shot of Bristol Palin ‘teaching them young’ stirs controversy

A picture posted to Bristol Palin’s Instagram account over the weekend has garnered all sorts of comments, many of which are not too nice.

Palin, the 25-year-old daughter of former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, shared a photo of her 7-year-old son, Tripp, shooting a gun, along with the hashtags #safetyfirst and #teachingthemyoung. People immediately began to scrutinize the mother of two while others rushed to her defense.

Likewise, Palin’s husband, Marine Corps veteran and Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer, shared another gun-related Instagram post – this one featuring the couple’s 5-month-old baby, Sailor – just last week, but Meyer didn’t seem to get quite as much kickback as his wife.
