Police are still searching for the gunman responsible for shooting three people Wednesday night at a mall in Indianapolis.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement officers arrived to the scene around 6:30 pm and found the three victims inside the Washington Square Mall, located about 12 miles east of the city’s downtown.

Investigators think an altercation took place between the suspected shooter and one of the victims, a male who was likely the immediate target. The other two victims may have been innocent bystanders. They all sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Police said the incident does not appear to be a random shooting and told local media there were no signs of gang-related activity.

At this time, the incident is still being investigated and investigators are trying to learn more about the events leading up to the shooting. A description of the suspect has not been released.

Investigators urge anyone with information about this incident to call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at (317) 262-TIPS (8477).
