WESTWOOD, Mass.-(Ammoland.com)- More than 2,500 people stopped by the Howard LeightTM Shooting Sports booth during last week’s 2019 SHOT Show to check out the latest in hearing and eye protection for shooters and hunters.

New in the exhibit space for 2019 was a sound booth where visitors could test electronic earmuffs, personally experiencing how the sounds of a series of gunshots ranging from pistols to rifles are safely reduced by Howard Leight ImpactTM Sport, Impact Sport BOLT and Impact Pro protective muffs to a safe 82 decibels.

Two presentations by top-tier multigun competitor and Howard Leight Pro Ambassador, Travis Gibson, were also a hit, as was a fantastic giveaway of a $10,000 prize package featuring Howard Leight electronic earmuffs, shooting glasses, MuckTM boots, Vortex optics, MGM targets, Warne MSR mounting kits, a Safariland gift certificate and a Caracal competition rifle.

The prize package was won by retired Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Will Markham, director of operations for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, in Tampa, Florida. Markham, who Howard Leight later learned was instrumental in the battle to liberate Kabul, Afghanistan from the Taliban after 9/11, was elated at the news he had won, noting, “This will go to very good use, including some outdoors excursions with our Gold Star families [family members of a fallen service member] and wounded warriors.”

Chris Leight, national sales manager for consumer markets at Honeywell Safety Products, said, “The 2019 SHOT Show was very good for us. The sound booth was a big hit and industry buyers and the media liked the new MultiCam® patterns of our popular Impact Sport line of electronic muffs (MultiCam alpine, standard and black shown below). We had many new potential accounts come by and express interest in signing up with our wholesalers, as well as a number of dotcom outlets.”

Howard Leight Shooting Sports also debuted the new Uvex Acadia™ and Uvex Hypershock™ shooting glasses. The premium lenses of these stylish glasses meet or exceed rigid American National Standards Institute (ANSI) 787+ high-velocity impact standards and feature Howard Leight’s proven anti-scratch and anti-fog coatings, all while preserving affordable price points. Howard Leight and Uvex have been at the top of the industrial safety eyewear market for decades, and the company is now using that vast expertise to bring exceptional quality shooting glasses to the sporting/recreational market.

“Howard Leight Shooting Sports offers a growing selection of styles featuring a choice of several available lens tints for any shooting application… all with great protection, low price points, and excellent optical quality,” says Leight. Several models on display at SHOT featured Howard Leight’s remarkable new HydroShieldTMcoating. “Our anti-fog coatings are so important in the world of shooting,” Leight adds. “If glasses fog up, people take them off and they’re no longer protected.” He adds that he sees growing awareness among consumers and retailers that ultra-high price points don’t always equate to a quality set of shooting or safety glasses. And, many sunglasses, which some shooters wear, are not safety rated. “Without lenses meeting high-velocity impact standards, you don’t have adequate eye protection,” he says.

“Our products are designed for that large market of people who can be rough on their gear, hardcore users who tend to scratch things up, bang them up. Fit, comfort and protection are the three main qualities of both hearing and eye protection,” Leight says. “If any of those are compromised, the consumer won’t wear it. We’re making sure we cover the bases across all of these important attributes.”
