Houston cop comforts his dying horse after she’s struck by a truck

A tragic accident last week claimed the life of a 2-year-old Tennessee Walker who was a part of the Houston Police Department.

According to the department, Officer D. Herrejon was riding the horse, whose name was Charlotte, when she became spooked by a passing cement truck. Charlotte threw Herrejon off of her back before she was struck by the truck.

Charlotte, who was with the Houston Police Department for four years, described as loving her job and always ready to work, eventually succumbed to the injuries she sustained, but her partner stayed with her, comforting her in her last moments.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing, but authorities believe the driver of the truck was not at fault.
