Handcrafted Mexican ironwood shotgun slugs in practice (VIDEO)

In their latest episode of “you make it we shoot it” the shotgunners over at Taofledermaus test some handcrafted 12 gauge slugs made from Mexican Ironwood (disclaimer: that is not a Tejano thrash metal band).

The desert ironwood, Olneya, ranges from south Arizona and California through Baja and the Sonoran Desert and is so dense that it sinks in water. As such its prized for carvings and art work. Like these slugs, which prove to be very stout indeed.

The resin slugs are also pretty impressive as well and deliver a lot of force even though they are pretty light in weight.

Who wood have thunk it? (See what we did there?)
