Gun stolen from CWP holder during Walmart bathroom assault

Walmart bathroom gun theft

Authorities in Medford, Oregon, have arrested a man who is accused of assaulting a 25-year-old concealed weapons permit holder in a Walmart bathroom Thursday night and making off with the man’s handgun.

The CWP holder said he had a holstered Springfield XD .40-caliber handgun tucked away in the small of his back and when he walked into the bathroom around 9 p.m., he was followed by the suspect, who was later identified as Joshua Wright.

Wright initially tried to grab the gun from the man’s waistband, but was unsuccessful in his attempt. However, Wright then just simply punched the man in the face, knocked him to the ground and snatched the gun from him, before pointing it at the CWP holder and ordering him to leave.

Surveillance video captured images of Wright and Facebook tips helped lead to his arrest. He was found near the Jackson County Jail and said to be heavily under the influence of drugs. The gun has yet to be recovered.
