SPRINGFIELD, Virginia -(Ammoland.com)- The Gun Owners Foundation (GOF) is celebrating its 40th anniversary. The organization was founded in 1983 as the non-profit arm of Gun Owners of America (GOA).

Since its inception, GOF has been dedicated to protecting the Second Amendment rights of American citizens. The organization has been involved in many high-profile cases, including the recent challenges that blocked the Oregon “high” capacity magazine ban and the Illinois “assault weapons” ban.

GOF has also been active in filing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request efforts to learn about the federal government’s actions. One of the organization’s FOIA requests has uncovered a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) registry of nearly one billion-gun records. Other FOIA requests also have shown the almost schizophrenic approach that the ATF has taken in classifying items.

Despite the challenges for anti-gun politicians, GOF remains committed to its cause. The organization believes that any infringement on the Second Amendment is a threat to all other civil liberties and individual rights.

As GOF celebrates its 40th anniversary, it plans to continue its core mission to protect the Second Amendment and restore all Americans’ right to bear arms.

Erich Pratt, the Senior Vice President of GOF, told AmmoLand News, “GOF’s mission laid out by our founder H.L. Richardson has been clear from the beginning – to restore the Second Amendment and ensure that its rights and privileges shall not be infringed. Whether from our FOIA requests, briefs, or direct legal challenges, our work has been invaluable to lawmakers, judges, and the public at large, and we will never stop as the price of freedom is eternal vigilance.”

Sam Paredes, on behalf of the board for GOF, continued, “Especially at a time when our God-given rights face a seemingly endless assault from anti-gunners, our work at GOF is ever more critical. As we’ve been saying to those who disregard freedoms – fall in line, or we will make you.”

GOF has ramped up its FOIA program and federal and state-level lawsuits to protect the right to bear arms for all Americans. GOF’s cases have been filed in many states on the federal and local levels. The organization is challenging laws that flaunt the Bruen decision. This vast list of cases includes challenges to New York State’s Concealed Carry Improvement Act (CCIA).

Despite these challenges, GOF remains committed to its mission of protecting Second Amendment rights. As the organization celebrates its 40th anniversary, it looks forward to continuing its fight for the rights of American gun owners.

Gun Owners Foundation has been a prominent organization fighting for Second Amendment rights for 40 years. Despite challenges, GOF has remained dedicated to its cause and has successfully protected American gun owners’ rights in many court cases. As the organization looks to the future, it is committed to shining a light on the oversteps of the federal government and challenging bad gun laws in court. GOF’s commitment to its mission remains as strong as ever, and it will continue to be a vocal opponent of any attempts to infringe on the Second Amendment rights of American citizens.
