Gun-Grabber Andrew Gillum Defends the Indefensible Cowards of Broward

Florida –(AmmoLand.com)-   Andrew Gillum, candidate to be the next Democrat Governor Florida, has been touted by many on the left as the future. However, he has taken one very old playbook from those who seek to destroy our Second Amendment rights out.

He is willing to defend anything or anyone to punish law-abiding gun citizens for the acts of criminals and nutcases by restricting our rights.

Late last month, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported that pro-Second Amendment candidate Ron DeSantis called out Broward County for giving a number of bureaucrats running the schools big raises – in some cases up to 21 percent, leading to salaries as high as $180,000 a year. Some of these raises came less than a month after the shooting at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland.

That shooting, as you will recall, featured a School Resource Officer who showed a bigger yellow streak than Frank Jack Fletcher did during the Wake Relief Expedition, and that was just the bumbling that Broward County government agencies did on the day of that tragedy. Between dozens of calls to the Broward County Sheriff’s office, two tips the Federal Bureau of Investigation failed to pass on, and the Broward County schools carrying out a lax discipline plan, there is blame aplenty for failing to stop the deaths of three teachers and 14 students.

Well, not in the eyes of Gillum. After DeSantis called out Broward County for the raises, he attacked DeSantis, saying in a Tweet:

“It’s inappropriate and disingenuous for a man who refuses to support common sense gun safety laws, pay teachers what they are worth, or keep money in our public schools, to lash out at anyone in our public school system.”

Common sense, though, would have been to intervene against the Parkland shooter in one of the many chances beforehand. But Gillum, the mayor of Tallahassee, the capital of Florida, is looking to make changes. According to his website, he favors the usual Bloomberg wish list: semi-auto bans, universal background checks, placing arbitrary limits on magazine capacity, and just about everything else you might imagine.

That said, the brother of Meadow Pollack has taken to Twitter to challenge Gillum. In a Tweet, Hunter Pollack said,

“How can the people of Broward support @AndrewGillum because he supports the MSD safety bill we got passed but also supports @browardschools who struggled to implement any of it & finessed tax payers on a referendum to increase teacher pay but really gave it to administrators.”

Pollack also re-tweeted Congressman DeSantis’s response to Gillum:

“@AndrewGillum is clearly siding with the failed Broward School bureaucrats and their pay raises over keeping funding in the classroom and making our schools safe. This is unconscionable, he should apologize to teachers and parents in Broward immediately.”

The difference between DeSantis and Gillum as the next Governor of Florida is extremely clear in this race. DeSantis is the best possible candidate for Second Amendment supporters – and not just in the sense that his opponent is someone giving Michael Bloomberg everything he wants.

DeSantis has a track record of supporting our right to keep and bear arms, refusing to punish law-abiding citizens for the acts of criminals and lunatics.

In Florida, DeSantis is a choice Second Amendment supporters can make with enthusiasm.
