Grandma shot in the back after toddler finds gun in car (VIDEO)

NBC12 - WWBT - Richmond, VA News On Your Side

A 40-year-old woman is lucky to be alive and recovering from a gunshot wound to the back after her 2-year-old grandson found a loaded gun in her car and shot her while they were driving down the road in Rock Hill, South Carolina, Monday.

Rock Hill Police Captain Mark Bollinger said the woman is lucky that the bullet first traveled through car’s seat, because it absorbed some of the impact and slowed the bullet down substantially. Bollinger said the toddler found the loaded .357 in a pouch behind the front passenger’s seat, but did not say to whom the gun belonged. However, Bollinger did indicate that some type of charges are possible.

The incident remains under investigation.
