SMYRNA, GA –-(Ammoland.com)- GASTON J. GLOCK style LP, the purveyors of fine quality hunting and shooting sports apparel and accessories attended the 2012 Blade Show in Atlanta, Georgia for the first time introducing their collection of unique knives including the Leopard Battle Tank knife, the Battleship Tirpitz knife and the one-of-a-kind Mosaic Damascus hunting knife with an ivory handle.

The company stands firmly behind a philosophy of producing high quality products by craftsmen from around the world while making the most of recycled or environmentally safe materials. Nothing could combine the complete GGS philosophy more than the knives that were on display at the country’s largest knife show.

The Leopard Battle Tank knife features historic steel recycled from the barrel of a Leopard 1 A3 Battle Tank. The Leopard Tank is considered by many historians to be one of the best battle tanks and the new Leopard Tanks currently serve many foreign militaries. The high-performance LEO-Damast®, a 320-layer Damascus steel, forged by Markus Balbach of Germany; a highly respected German black smith. The Damascus steel blade in a full tang design has an incredibly high degree of hardness; between 63° – 65° HRC making it one tough and reliable hunting knife. The handle is carved from maple root in which a synthetic resin saturates it under extreme pressure to harden and stabilize the wood. The sealing off of the pores and cell spaces with the resin reduces the swelling and shrinking of the wood handle. The sheath is crafted using traditional saddle leather with vegetable tanning materials. The long (6 to 8 week) period of retanning gives the sheath it’s beautiful color and suppleness.

The Battleship Tirpitz Hunting knife is made from recycled steel from the 1944 sunken German battleship, the Tirpitz. The Tirpitz was a Bismarck class battleship commissioned in the German fleet in February of 1941. She served as the centerpiece of the Baltic Fleet and as a deterrent against an Allied invasion in Norway and acted as a “fleet in being” against the British Royal Navy. The Tirpitz met her end in 1944 at the hands of the British Lancaster bombers. Like the Leopard Battle Tank knife, this full-tang designed knife is made from historic steel. The 320-layer Damascus steel is also forged by German black-smith Balbach. The steel in either knife is unavailable to the public in any other format. Also, like the Leopard knife, the Tirpitz knife performs superbly due to this full thickness across the width of the blade providing extraordinary stability. The handle is made from stabilized maple burl wood in a black finish and sealed with a synthetic resin that prohibits the swelling and shrinking of the sturdy handle. The sheath is also made from traditional saddle leather in a black color.

Definitely a show-stopper, the beautiful, one-of-a-kind hunting knife forged by German blacksmith Balbach featured Mosaic Damascus steel. The process requires hand forging by traditional methods in an oven without the use of a press. The result of many different steels folded and forged are intricate and unusual images appear in the blade. The blade was diagonally cut out of the welding package and has a hardness of 59° HRC. The Ferrule and bolsters are also made from Mosaic Damascus. The exquisite handle is hand-carved ivory with Scrimshaw engravings of a ship on one side and an old Viking motif on the other. The light brown leather sheath is made from traditional saddle leather using only vegetable tanning materials and has been hand stamped. As an added elegant element, an inlay of sharkskin leather appears on both sides of the sheath.
