Game and Fish/Sportsman Magazine Review Slick, New Aluminum Fishing Boats

Kennesaw, Ga. (Ammoland.Com) — Game & Fish Magazine, America’s only national outdoor magazine with a focus on local hunting and fishing, reviewed six new fishing boats in its February issues on newsstands now.

In the magazine’s Southern editions, editors and writers reviewed the latest aluminum bass boats, including the G3 Sportsman 19, Ranger Tournament Series RT198P and Crestliner PT20.

Readers are well aware that the latest aluminum bass boats have reached a new level of acceptance and popularity after bass pro Jon Cox won the FLW Cup in an aluminum boat, a Crestliner PT20, said John Geiger of Game & Fish.

“That was a first, and it took us by surprise,” said Geiger. “Anglers are now very interested in this boat and the other top metal rigs. So we rolled up our sleeves and tested the boats on-the-water to bring our readers the latest.”

Game and Fish/Sportsman Magazine Reviews the Latest in Aluminum Bass Fishing Boats

Generally, the reviewers were pleased with the performances; some even astounded at the room, ride and features these aluminum boats offered. Still, they aren’t yet perfect, and the reviewers also reported on how manufacturers could improve their offerings.

Readers who get G&F’s Northern titles did not see the Southern bass-boats reviews, but instead read about the new open-water aluminum fishing boats.

Game & Fish is uniquely positioned to geo-target the gear, techniques and locations that anglers and hunters want to know about where they live,” said Editorial Director Ken Dunwoody. “In our 28 issues, we fill each magazine with hunting and fishing content specific to the locations where the issues are sold. Most people hunt and fish within their state lines, and that’s the information most important to them.”

As a result, in the Northern editions, Game & Fish was able to give anglers excellent reviews of new boats for their walleye and smallmouth fishing. Reviews found that these boats — the Smoker Craft, Ranger and StarCraft — are made for hardcore anglers, yet have features that make them very family friendly, and an easier sell to the wife and kids.

In addition to the boat reviews, the Gear Section of the magazine explores whether now is the right time to buy a new boat, thanks to new technology, interest rates and an array of add-ons.

Elsewhere in the magazine, readers across the country received the latest information on hunting and fishing this time of year where they live. From crappie and pre-spawn bass in the South to ice-fishing in the North and trout in the West, anglers will see tips and hot locations to check out now.
