Footage shows undercover cop shot 8 times by fellow officer (VIDEO)

“I’m sorry, man. I didn’t know it was you,” says Lt. Greg Brachle after he found out the suspect he shot was an undercover officer from his department.

As reported by the Albuquerque Journal, the injured officer, Jacob Grant of the Albuquerque Police Department, was on a detail to purchase $60 worth of meth from a suspected dealer on Jan. 9, 2015 when his life changed forever.

When the bust signal went down, Brachle and others swarmed in to make the arrest. As he came around the side of the suspect’s vehicle, Brachle saw Grant with a weapon and opened fire, hitting him eight times with .45ACP jacketed hollowpoints and damaging most of his vital organs.

Brachle had missed the mission briefing where it was disclosed that Grant would be part of the buy.

Now, after 13 surgeries and a life of medical issues ahead of him, Grant was awarded a $6.5 million lawsuit against the City this week and the video, shot from Brachle’s lapel cam, was made public.
