An argument between two men in Sarasota on Tuesday ended with one man shot by a pellet gun and the other man facing charges.

The victim was ordering donuts at Meaney’s Mini Donuts when he became engaged in an argument with 35-year-old Adrian Andrews, who was standing in the window of his second-story apartment. A witness said he heard three “pops” right before the victim complained of pain in his chest.

Authorities found marks on a nearby stop sign consistent with marks made by pellets from a pellet gun, and paramedics also determined a pellet appeared to be lodged in the victim’s chest, although he refused treatment on the scene.

Andrews later admitted to authorities that he used a pellet rifle to shoot pellets at the victim.

Andrews was charged with aggravated battery and is being held without bond at the Sarasota County jail.
