Float to honor Pulse victims featured in Rose Parade

Pulse shooting rose parade float

Among the floats featured at the 128th annual Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California, on Monday was one that honored the victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando over the summer.

The float was adorned with 49 white stars atop a sea of more than 15,000 red roses. The stars, made of coconut and lined with golden mustard seeds, represented the victims who died and riding on the float were three survivors of the June 12 shooting.

“It’s bitter sweet because I think we’d all rather be focusing on another topic, but this is our way of honoring the lives we lost along with sending a message of resilience,” Ged Kenslea, a spokesman for the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, told the Orlando Sentinel.

The Pulse float was one of about 40 featured in this year’s parade.
