Father of shooting victim on reducing violence: ‘It comes down to parenting’ (VIDEO)

Christopher Ellis, whose 14-year-old son was shot and killed for no apparent reason while walking down the street in East Oakland earlier this year, recently spoke with reporters about why gun control measures typically have no bearing on the cities plagued with the most violence.

“Most criminals in East Oakland, they don’t go to gun stores to buy guns,” Ellis pointed out, adding, “The size of a magazine doesn’t really matter. When you’re a target, you’re a target.”

And along with stricter penalties for those who do break the law, Ellis said, “At the end of the day, it comes down to parenting, and it starts when they’re real little.”
