USA -(Ammoland.com)- As expected, yesterday HF238 – the Defense of Dwelling & Person Act (also known as Stand your Ground), authored by Rep. Jim Nash, passed out of the House Public Safety Committee on a 9-6 vote.

Representatives voting in favor of the bill were: Cornish, Johnson, Grossell, Howe, Lohmer, Lucero, Newberger, O’Neill, and Zerwas.

Representatives voting against the bill were: Hilstrom, Becker-Finn, Considine, Dehn, Franke, and Ward.

Rep. Pinto was absent at the time of the vote, but would have voted against.

Our thanks to everyone to showed up, called, sent e-mails, and visited their Representatives, members of the committee, and House Leadership.

WHAT’S NEXT?

The bill will move to the House Rules Committee for a required waiver of the rules before moving to the House floor for debate & a vote to pass the legislation. We’re unsure of the timing at this time.
