Crowds turn out for Dallas candlelight vigil (VIDEO)

A candlelight vigil Monday night at the Dallas City Hall was attended by thousands, according to reports from local media.

The emotional gathering included tributes to the five officers who were killed in last week’s ambush and offered support for their families, friends and fellow brothers (and sisters) in blue.

Dallas Police Sgt. Ivan Gunter noted that in a matter of seven minutes he lost half of his crew.

“Faster than a speeding bullet. More powerful than a locomotive. Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound,” Dallas Police Chief David Brown said during the vigil. “Look. It’s a train. It’s a plane. No, it’s Patricio Zamarripa. Look, it’s Brent Thompson. Look, it’s Michael Krol. Look, it’s Lorne Ahrens. Look, it’s Michael Smith. God speed,” he concluded.
