Couple targets gun range; robs, shoots patrons (VIDEO)

Two elderly men were leaving a local gun range in Northeast Philadelphia when they were robbed at gun point, one of them was also shot, by a man and woman, local media reports.

While the two male victims — a 67 year old and a 68 year old — complied with the couple’s request, turning over their wallets, cell phones, money and guns, the confrontation turned violent.

“For some reason, after the robbery, our male perpetrator fired one shot, striking our 67-year-old victim in his groin and he’s presently in critical condition,” said Chief Inspector Scott Small of the Philadelphia Police, according to CBS Philly.

“The suspects, male and female, then fled the scene in a dark-colored vehicle with dark-tinted windows,” Small continued. “So now these two perpetrators, a male and female, who initially both were armed with guns, stole an additional seven guns.”

The encounter occurred at approximately 8:30 Thursday night out in front of the Delaware Valley Sports Center in Philly’s Bustleton neighborhood.

It comes on the heels of another gun range robbery Wednesday at 10th and Spring Garden Streets, it’s not clear at this point if the two incidents are related.

“This is a pretty heinous crime and we have some heavily armed individuals out there that are willing to shoot,” warned small.

Small and his team are looking over surveillance footage to see if they can identify the suspects.
