Cop tackles baseball bat-wielding man outside of police station (VIDEO)

A man was tackled then promptly arrested outside of the West Covina Police Department in California Monday morning after he stood outside of the building beating the windows with a baseball bat, an incident which was captured on surveillance video.

Christopher Rivas, 28, was charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Resisting Arrest.

Rivas walked up to the police station around 10:18 a.m. and took a swing at the glass windows in the front of the building, which barely even budged. Rivas then went over to the front door and kept swinging.

“At this point, he was yelling, ‘I’m coming in, I’m coming in,’” said Rudy Lopez of the West Covina Police Department.

Just inside the doorway was an officer with his gun drawn and trained on Rivas, who never actually stepped foot inside the door. Meanwhile, another officer sneaked around from the side of the building and tackled Rivas from behind, knocking him to the ground.

Rivas, who received medical treatment for minor injuries he sustained in the fall, was quickly apprehended.

No one else was injured and none of the windows were cracked.
