Contact ATF on changes to regulating armor piercing ammo (VIDEO)

The ATF recently proposed changing how it regulates armor piercing ammunition, and has asked the public for input.

The 17-page proposal details how the agency wants to restructure the framework for which it classifies armor piercing ammo, giving itself more flexibility to give certain types a pass based on intended use.

The ATF says the current framework would prohibit military grade 5.56 rounds comprised of M855 cartridges and SS109 bullets, or “green tip” ammo as it’s commonly called.

ATF will consider all comments received on or before March 16, 2015. Submit comments:
