Confederate memorial vandalized with ‘Confed lives don’t matter’

Confederate memorialConfederate lives don’t matter, according to the person who vandalized a Confederate memorial in Pensacola, Florida last month.

The structure, which was created more than 100 years ago, was erected to honor “the Uncrowned Heroes of the Southern Confederacy whose joy was to suffer and die for a cause they believed to be just.” The memorial sits in Lee Square, named after Confederate General Robert E. Lee, and now has an estimated $1,000 in damage after somebody spray-painted “Confed lives don’t matter” across it.

Pensacola Police Chief David Alexander III said authorities are investigating the possibility of felony criminal mischief charges due to the extent of the damage, but don’t appear to have any suspects at this time.
