The Chicago Police Department held a press conference Wednesday to praise an ongoing enforcement initiative aimed at reducing violence that recently resulted in the confiscation of 50 guns, according to a CPD news release.
Chicago police targeted area gangs, from whom they recovered 50 illegal guns, including handguns and a AK-47; nearly 50 pounds of the cocaine; and $10,000 in cash.
The sweep also resulted in the closure of a retail store on the south end of the city that had been the site of illegal activity — the most recent a homicide earlier this month.
