Washington, DC -(AmmoLand.com)- “The flagrant murder of Marines last week in Chattanooga, Tennessee shows that civilian and military Americans need firearms,” says gun rights expert John M. Snyder.

“The Islamic State (ISIS) inspired the attack, according to Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX), chairman of the Homeland Security Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives,” Snyder added.

“Islamists,” he continued, “according to Rev. James V. Schall, S.J., writing recently in Crisis magazine, ‘are not mindless products of poverty, ideology, ignorance, psychological mania, or any other excuse to avoid calling them what they claim to be, namely, loyal and devoted believers in the Qur’an, the real followers of Mohammed.'”

Snyder said, “You don’t know when, where or how Islamists will strike. You must be able to stop them anytime, any place. That’s just common sense. Americans need firearms in order to protect themselves, their families and their communities.”

“Panicked calls for gun control are off the wall, no matter who makes them. It’s time to deep-six demands for more and more gun control. It’s time to dump the politicians, academics, media personnel and clergymen who make them.”

Snyder has been named “the dean of Washington gun lobbyists” by the Washington Post and New York Times, “a champion of the right of self-defense” by the Washington Times, the “gun dean” by Human Events, and “the senior rights activist in Washington” by Shotgun News.

He is a former NRA magazine editor, and official of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms and Second Amendment Foundation. He serves on the boards of the National Association of Chiefs of Police and American Federation of Police & Concerned Citizens.
