Candy shop clerk pepper sprays shoplifting teens during altercation (VIDEO)

An altercation at a candy shop in the St. Louis suburb of University City last week left half a dozen teens pepper sprayed by a clerk who said she feared for her safety.

The Rocket Fizz clerk said around 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 29, she confronted the teens about stealing some candy, but the teens became “extremely aggressive” and began “verbally assaulting” her as they made their way behind the counter.

As the group neared her, the clerk, fearing for her safety, grabbed a knife. At that point, the teens decided to leave.

However, a few minutes later, the group returned to the candy shop. Again, fearing for her safety, the clerk pepper sprayed the teens, then called the police.

Authorities caught up with the teens, who were taken to the police station – though not arrested – and turned over to their parents.

No one was seriously injured.
