British supermarket’s new Christmas ad highlights heartwarming Christmas Truce of WWI (VIDEO)

Sainsbury’s, a British supermarket, has captured the true essence of Christmas in a three and a half-minute ad. The ad features a mini documentary highlighting the Christmas Truce of World War I, an unofficial, impromptu ceasefire between British and German soldiers in 1914, in which the troops celebrated the season together by exchanging gifts and even playing football together. The supermarket explained that while the video is fictional, they made every effort to portray the historic event as accurately as possible.

The supermarket will be selling the vintage-style chocolate bar featured in the ad, while supplies last, through Christmas, and all profits will go to The Royal British Legion to benefit armed forces, both past and present, and their families.
