Boats full of dead bodies keep washing ashore near Japan (VIDEO)

More than half a dozen wooden boats have washed ashore in Japan over the last two months, but the contents of the boats – decaying, dead bodies – have authorities baffled.

At least eight boats have been discovered thus far, with the most recent one found the latter part of November with 20 dead bodies aboard. Officials say the bodies were in badly decomposed condition and “partially skeletonized.” Two of the bodies were missing heads, while one boat carried six skulls.

At this point, authorities can only speculate on what happened to the boats and those aboard. Lettering on the boats as well as a scrap of fabric that appeared to be a flag, indicates that the boats most likely originated in Korea.
