Beretta Goes Subcompact with new APX Carry Series Pistols (VIDEOS)

Beretta has shrunk their APX platform to include a new series of subcompact single-stack 9mm pistols– the APX Carry line.

The guns, built in Beretta’s Tennessee facility, have been “specifically designed for users who have a need for ultra-concealment but want the ease of handling, accuracy, and basic characteristics and ergonomics of the full-size and compact models of the APX family of handguns,” notes the company.

When it comes to size, the guns are slim, at just 0.9-inches wide across the grip, and compact, with a 5.6-inch overall length while still having a 3.07-inch barrel. Height from the bottom of the flush-fit floorplate to the top of the rear sight is 4.2-inches.

By comparison, these measurements are all just slightly less than those of the Glock’s wildly popular 9mm slimline G43 pistol. Weight, unloaded, is 19.8-ounces.

The line is available in four color patterns: black, flat dark earth, olive drab green, and Wolf Grey. They accommodate either a 6+1 round flush fit or pinky extension magazine or an 8+1 capacity extended mag. The guns ship with two magazines and three baseplate styles for user customization.

Striker-fired with a low-bore axis, easily manipulated slide catch, reversible magazine release, aggressive front and rear slide serrations, and a DAO trigger that breaks at 6.5-pounds, Beretta is pitching the gun heavily at the consumer concealed carry and home defense market.

Best of all, while the full-sized APX has an MSRP of $575 (and typically sells for closer to $525) the APX Carry is set to MSRP for $425.
