An alleged bank robber in Mississippi almost got away with it, until officers asked the cab driver where he dropped off the fare he picked up that morning at the bank.

As reported by The Sun Herald, Dominique R. Spears, 35, of St. Martin, was arrested at her apartment Tuesday shortly after robbing the Wells Fargo Bank branch in nearby Ocean Springs.

The robbery occurred at around 10:50 a.m. with a female matching Spears’ description handed a teller a note that implied she had a gun. When authorities found out she left in a Yellow Cab, a quick call to the cab company proved fruitful with the driver who picked her up advising he delivered the woman to her apartment. Stopped at an area casino, the cab driver told detectives he was unaware that Spears may have robbed the bank.

Detective Capt. William Jackson told WLOX that she was arrested at her apartment without incident.

Spears is in custody without bail on a robbery charge pending her initial court appearance later this week.
