Federal and local authorities are offering $10,000 for information leading to an arrest of the suspects responsible for an armed robbery of an Azusa, California, pawn shop earlier this year.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in conjunction with the Azusa Police Department have been circulating surveillance images of the men who ransacked Azusa Pawn during business hours on May 24.

“This was a dangerous robbery that unlawfully placed additional firearms into our community. We are asking that anyone who recalls the events of that day or recognizes the individuals, even if only by nickname, address, school or workplace, contact us immediately,” authorities said in the announcement.

Investigators said around 1:50 that afternoon a black male, who they believe is connected to the robbery suspects, scouted out the inside of the store for 15 to 20 minutes.

Shortly after the man left, about 40 minutes later, three black males entered and ordered the employees to lie facedown on the floor. The trio ordered an employee by gunpoint to open the store’s safe and kicked another employee in the face, breaking his nose.

Also, during the robbery, a father and his young son entered the shop so the suspects ordered the pair onto the floor and stole an iPod from the child.

In addition to the child’s electronic device, the armed robbers made off with a large amount of jewelry and eight guns.

Authorities describe their vehicle as a dark-colored SUV, possibly a Saturn. They describe the three suspects as:

  • Suspect 1 – Adult black male, early 20s, approximately 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet, 170 pounds, last seen wearing a red-colored hooded sweatshirt with the word “MINNESOTA” on the front and sweat pants.
  • Suspect 2 – Adult black male, early 20s, approximately 5 feet 9 inches, 190 pounds, last seen wearing a two-tone zip up sweatshirt, grey with a red-colored hood. At the time of the robbery, he had facial hair.
  • Suspect 3 – Adult black male, early 20s, approximately 5 feet 8 inches, 160 pounds, last seen wearing a dark hoodie and sweatpants.

The Azusa Police and ATF are concerned that these criminals may still be on the street, able to commit additional acts of violence.

Anyone with information should call the Azusa Police Department at (626) 812-3200 the ATF Tip Line at 1-800-ATF-GUNS (283-4867).
