Theresa Vail, Miss Kansas, is setting her sites on an upcoming hunting show on the Outdoor Channel.

Army veteran turned beauty queen Theresa Vail, Miss Kansas, is stepping off the runway and into the woods to host an upcoming series on the Outdoor Channel called “Limitless.”

Vail, 23, is a woman of many talents. She’s a sergeant in the U.S. Army, an avid hunter and firearms enthusiast, was crowned Miss Kansas, an even participated in last year’s Miss America contest. But now Vail has turned her sights on hosting her own show, The Wichita Eagle reports.

Most of the hunting will be done with a bow, and at least half of each segment will be dedicated to exploring a personal challenge.

The Outdoor Channel contacted Vail about the possibility of starring in the upcoming series, and after talking with the producers the beauty queen said yes.

“I told them I didn’t want to do what everybody else was doing and they said they didn’t either,” Vail said. “We both wanted it to have more than just me on hunts. I was sold from there on.”

Vail said “Limitless” will focus primarily on bow hunting, but more than that, each segment will address some sort of personal challenge. An episode following her on an elk hunt in New Mexico, for example, will also be about her journey through the state’s Smoke Jumper fire fighting training course.

“You have 100 pounds of gear, and you’re running up and down building carrying people in a fireman’s carry,” Vail said. “It’s going to be pretty tough, but I thrive on things like that.”

While Vail has plenty of experience hunting and more than enough time in front of cameras, she’s not afraid to admit when she doesn’t know how to do something.

Vail took Miss Kansas and even participated in last year’s Miss America contest.

“I’m not afraid to say, ‘Hey, I don’t know how to do this,’ but I want to learn and do it myself,” Vail said. “That’s empowering and more people need to do it. I’ve never (backpacked the meat from an elk down a mountain), but I will learn how and that’s the kind of thing that makes me so proud.”

Vail began filming for “Limitless” this month and the show is set to air on the Outdoor Channel sometime next year.
