Armed father kills masked gunman at McDonald’s (VIDEOS)

An incident that started when a masked man opened fire in an Alabama fast food restaurant ended with one dead and two injured.

The McDonald’s on Lomb Avenue in Birmingham was the scene of the shooting late Sunday night that left a subject, Antonio Demond Sanders, 24, dead and the man who shot him, an armed diner who was leaving the restaurant with his two sons, hospitalized. Police say the matter is under investigation and it is not immediately clear if Sanders was attempting to rob the eatery or was targeting someone.

Birmingham Councilwoman Sheila Tyson, in whose district the shooting occurred, told local media she empathized with the father who fatally shot Sanders.

“I just see crime as wrong period, but to try to protect your son, I can totally understand that,” Tyson told WIAT.

Earlier this summer Sanders pleaded guilty to drug and weapons charges but entered a job training program, reported AL.com, however, the man had his probation revoked Monday before he had been identified in the McDonald’s incident.

The armed father, who along with one of his sons, received non-life threatening injuries.
