A Texas couple who was targeted for an armed robbery Friday night is uninjured, but the would-be robber, not so much, since he was shot by those he was trying to rob.

Kedrick and Christy Trotty had just pulled into the driveway in front of their Lubbock home around 11:35 p.m. when they were approached by a man wearing a ski mask and armed with a gun. But little did the robber know that he wasn’t the only one with a gun.

The suspect demanded money from and threatened Kedrick, who was in the driver’s seat. Meanwhile, the suspect didn’t notice Christy reaching into the glovebox. Out she pulled a handgun and passed it over to her husband, who promptly shot the would-be robber.

The suspect, later identified as Jamarcus Johnson, 22, ran away, but was found by responding officers about a block away. He was taken to a local hospital, where his injuries were deemed non-life threatening. The couple was uninjured.

Johnson now faces charges for aggravated robbery, along with outstanding misdemeanor warrants.
