Columbus, OH –-(Ammoland.com)- The Arizona House of Representatives is currently considering a bill to outlaw the sale of animals in public places.
House Bill 2302, sponsored by Representative Frank Pratt (R), would ban the sale of animals on public roads, rest stops, parks, or in other public places.
The bill also outlaws the sale of animals on commercial private property, such as a Walmart parking lot, without the express consent of the owner or lessee of the property
“It is very common for sporting dog enthusiasts to meet in a public place like a rest stop or Walmart parking lot to complete a dog sale or trade, especially when someone may be coming from out of state,” said Adam Wright, U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance’s (USSA) associate director of state services. “Banning this ordinary practice will add confusion to people buying a hunting dog and may have a chilling effect on people getting involved in the sport.”
It is also very common for dog sales to occur at field trials or other competition events.
“There is absolutely nothing wrong with selling a dog at a field trial but HB 2302 would shut down that practice,” added Wright.
The bill is currently pending before the full House of Representatives and may receive a vote at any time.
