DeKalb, Illinois –-(Ammoland.com)- Reed Snyder and J.W. Ramp welcomes 80% Arms to Episode 113 of the AR-15 Podcast! For those that don’t know, an 80% lower is an incomplete lower receiver that the ATF does not consider to be a firearm.
Specifically, it does not yet have the fire control group. Because it is not a firearm, transfer of these items is significantly less restricted: no FFL needed and it can be shipped right to your front door the same as any other accessories.
Purchasing an incomplete lower receiver entails some work to complete it once received. The hosts take listeners through all of the major items a person needs to complete the process of making the item a functioning receiver. This includes which routers, drill presses, and bits are necessary for the task of light machining. They take us through common mistakes first timers make and offer some sage advice on the best way to complete the lower without damaging it for those that are less mechanically savvy. Once complete there are a number of finishing options available. The hosts walk us through options such as anodizing.
