PIERRE, S.D. –-(Ammoland.com)- Hunters and anglers looking to get a jump on the upcoming 2011 seasons in South Dakota will be able to purchase their new licenses beginning on Dec. 15.

However, 2010 licenses will be valid through Jan. 31, 2011, for fishing, small game and waterfowl hunting.

“Although 2010 licenses remain valid until Jan. 31, we encourage hunters and anglers to renew their licenses early in the year so they don’t forget to renew before their first outings in February,[g1] ” said South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Department Licensing Supervisor Shon Eide.

“We find many people, especially grandparents, giving hunting and fishing licenses as Christmas gifts each year. Those persons purchasing 2011 hunting or fishing licenses after Dec. 15 will then have a license that is valid for the remainder of the 2011 calendar year.”

Annual resident fishing licenses will cost $27, and resident small-game hunting licenses will cost $31; for a resident combination (small game and fishing) the cost is $51, and the resident migratory bird certificate is $5.00.

Licenses can be purchased at authorized license dealers, or by visiting: https://apps.sd.gov/applications/gf82/login.asp
