11-year-old kid charged for stabbing cop (VIDEO)

An 11-year-old boy faces criminal charges after he stabbed a police officer outside of his home in Lowell, Massachusetts, on Sunday, but the boy’s mother claims the act was unintentional and it’s all just a big misunderstanding.

The boy’s mother, who did not want to be identified, said her son has had terrible run-ins with a group of older teens since they moved to the area six months ago. On the day of the incident, the bullies apparently chased the 11-year-old home.

“My son called me downstairs and said they’re in my car, vandalizing my car. So I came downstairs to try to settle everything and in the midst of that, my son was trying to tell me one of the kids came into the house. That’s when he grabbed the knife to protect himself,” the boy’s mother told reporters.

The mother called 911 to report the incident, but when the officer arrived on the scene, things went from bad to worse for the boy. When her son ran out of the house holding the knife, the officer tried to intervene, and during the struggle for the knife is when the officer was stabbed in the hand and arm. The mom noted that her son only had the knife for protection against the bullies and would never intentionally harm a police officer.

The officer was treated for his injuries and released, and is expected to be okay. The 11-year-old was arrested and faces charges for assault and battery and assault and battery on a police officer.

The boy’s mother said she felt after the officer was injured, authorities no longer cared about her family or the situation with which they were dealing. She said while she agrees her son’s behavior was unacceptable, the bullies are the bigger problem and need to be dealt with.
