A gun shop in Hutto, Texas, was the target for a smash and grab-style burglary last week. It was the second such incident at Blackland Gun Works in less than a month, and authorities have reason to believe the same suspects are responsible for both crimes.
Deputies were alerted to the break-in early Tuesday morning, but the thieves were in and out in about 30 seconds. They gained access by breaking a front window and made off with about a dozen long guns. Authorities say there were six suspects altogether, each wearing a mask and gloves, and they fled the scene in a Chevy pickup that was later determined to be stolen.
The same shop was hit by two thieves last month. During that break-in, the suspects specifically went after a case of Glocks. That same night, another gun shop in nearby Georgetown was the target for a break-in, although it was unsuccessful.
“We believe it was an organized group of people, who knew what they were doing. They knew where the weapons were at,” said Williamson County Sheriff Robert Chody.
Authorities believe the suspects in last month’s break-in were the same suspects from last week’s burglary, but they came back with more muscle.
