After leading officers on a short chase, Billy Ray Perry was arrested in Nashville last week and authorities believe he is responsible for a string of burglars across three counties. Perry is accused of 18 burglaries in Williamson County, 12 burglaries in Davidson County and nine burglaries in Cheatham County, for a total of at least 39 burglaries – all in just one month.

Authorities said Perry would go into a subdivision and scout cars late at night. He would take anything of value from the vehicles and if there was a garage door opener in the car, he would use it to gain access to the home and gather more loot. According to Detective Jeff Landis with the Cheatham County Sheriff’s Department, Perry’s apartment looked similar to a small store, complete with an array of cell phones, fishing rods, iPods and firearms.

“He’s feeding a habit,” Landis said. “He just says that’s all he has ever known.”
