Using full moon clips that double as a speed loader, Ruger’s newest entry to their SP101 wheelgun line is set up to accommodate 9mm fans.
Announced this week, the latest addition to Ruger’s stainless steel five-shot revolver series tips the scales at 25 ounces with a 2.25-inch barrel, keeping true to its concealed carry roots. Cushioned black rubber grips, a triple-locking cylinder, and transfer bar mechanism are carried over from the rest of the SP101 line in a handgun that measures 7.2-inches overall.
Due to the rimless case of 9mm cartridges, the new model uses full moon clips to ensure ejection of spent brass from the cylinder with the added benefit of providing rapid “drop-in” loading.
The new revolver ships with three such clips for an MSRP of $719 and compares well to the company’s $669 LCR in the same caliber.
