Doylestown, Pa. (July 2015) – The National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA) has announced a “Passenger Rail Tactics Training” practical course to be held during the 32nd Annual Tactical Operations Conference & Trade Show,  Aug. 30 – Sept. 4, 2015, at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.

In this new 24-hour, three-day practical course, taught by Sgt. Robert Underwood, Amtrak (NY) PD, teams will develop techniques and sharpen skills needed to effectively approach, enter and regain control of a passenger train in various environments. Students are recommended to bring a pistol belt, tactical vest and helmet (encouraged but not required), prescription shooting glasses (if needed), gloves and eye protection. Simunition guns and protective equipment will be provided.

Sgt. Underwood began his career with Amtrak Police in 1996 in Philadelphia, Pa. Since that time he has worked as a patrol officer, investigator and is presently assigned as sergeant of the Special Operations Unit. In addition to serving as a rail tactics instructor, Underwood is also a firearms, defensive tactics and active shooter instructor.

Registration for the 2015 Conference & Trade Show is open to all active law enforcement officers. Active members of a state tactical association receive a $50 discount upon receipt of a state association ID via fax (215-230-7616) or email (training@ntoa.org). Send six officers from the same agency or multi-jurisdictional team and the seventh officer’s conference registration is free.

Register by July 31, 2015, to take advantage of the discounted registration fee. Registration fee includes practical tracks, seminars, vendor exhibition, SWAT Call Out Dinners and the annual Awards Banquet.
