NJ Teachers Attend “Quail in the Classroom ” Pilot Program

JACKSON, NJ –-(Ammoland.com)- A teachers’ training workshop was held at the Forest Resource Education Center in Jackson, NJ for seven (7) schools participating in the pilot program, “Quail in the Classroom.”

The day was full of information and activities that the teachers will share with their students.

The Quail in the Classroom Program is a partnership of schools, NJ Divisions of Fish and Wildlife, Forestry and the New Jersey Quail Project (a venture of the New Jersey Outdoor Alliance Environmental Projects).

The program’s focus is habitat creation and improvement. Students will participate in creating a power point presentation, which will be shared with the other students, and also incubating, hatching and releasing young quail into the wild during the summer of 2011. The program includes a multi-disciplinary approach.

All released quail will be banded with information referring people to the Quail in the Classroom website that will be developed, as part of the activities of the program. Anyone reporting a banded bird with information, will receive a personalized certificate.

Teachers from the following New Jersey schools participated in the program:

• Anastasia School, Long Branch
• Crawford-Rodriguez Elementary School, Jackson
• Hartford Upper Elementary School, Mount Laurel
• Lake Rivera Middle School, Brick
• New Egypt High School, New Egypt
• Stafford Intermediate School, Manahawkin
