Nightforce Optics – -(AmmoLand.com)- The new Nightforce NXS 2.5-10×32 Compact, made in the USA, was created to answer the requests of hunters for greater low-light capability in a compact, lightweight, streamlined instrument that will not overwhelm a hunting rifle.
Nightforce Compact NXS scopes were originally created for U.S. Special Forces for use with night vision devices, testifying to their capability and ruggedness. The NXS 2.5-10×32 has a larger exit pupil aiding in faster target acquisition and improved light transmission. At just 12 inches in length and 19 ounces, it represents the optimum ratio of size-to-weight performance.
Like crafting a fine watch, building a small riflescope that outperforms most larger, bulkier scopes requires a commitment to tolerances, materials and innovative optical designs few scope companies have the resources or the desire to make.
The NXS 2.5-10×32 is available with fully enclosed hunting-style tu rrets in .250 MOA, or exposed target-style turrets with .250 MOA, .1 Mil-Rad, or 1.0 MOA elevation/.5 MOA windage adjustments. The target-style turrets all include Nightforce ZeroStop technology with windage limiter, allowing a quick return to absolute zero regardless of previous elevation adjustments.
Three revolutionary new ballistic reticles are also being offered with Nightforce 2.5-10×32 and 2.5-10×24 NXS Compacts. Designed for hunting to 600 yards, the family of reticles are based upon a common NP-1 design, but with three different configurations tailored to high, medium, and low velocity cartridges. Virtually all common hunting calibers will adapt flawlessly to one of the three.
The ballistic reticles are designed to be sighted in at 200 yards. Elevation lines are clearly marked in 50-yard intervals to 600 yards, including a 100-yard mark. Windage compensation is also marked in 5 and 10 MPH increments. The simplicity of this “smart reticle” system has been proven to be up to twice as fast as traditional rangefinding reticles, and the increase in accuracy at various ranges is ultimately more humane for the game being targeted. After the hunter has determined his rifle's zero, there is no need fo r a drop chart, turret adjustments in the field, or other complicated calculations. The new reticles interface perfectly with Nightforce ballistic software.
